89th and Final Canadian Derby at Northland Park Set for August 25th

EDMONTON, Alberta (August 7, 2018) – The 89th and final Canadian Derby at Northlands
Park Racetrack & Casino is just around the corner! The Canadian Derby is a thrilling afternoon
where the past and present collide; it’s day of glamour and action, filled with history and
tradition. It’s also a race with significant financial stakes. With a purse of $200,000, owners and
riders alike stand to win a lot.

Owners and trainers are invited to attend the media launch on Wednesday, August 22, 2018,
where post-positions will be drawn live.

Derby day will be filled with excited racing and fun crowd engagement activities like live music
and fashion competitions. Additionally, on race day, we will be giving away a 2018 Lexus NX
300 F Sport with our partners at Lexus of Edmonton West. Through the month of August,
Casino guests can print off entries daily and bring them to each qualifying finale night to
compete for the chance to win an entry into winning a new car! Each finale night also features
$1,000 of additional prizing including trip for two to Laughlin giveaway each finale night!
Northlands Park Racetrack & Casino will be qualifying winners on:

 Saturday, August 11
 Saturday, August 18
 Friday, August 24

At the Canadian Derby, be sure to head to the draw barrel on the tarmac for your free entry to
become a qualifier! There will be up to five lucky qualifiers drawn on the day of Derby.

Note: Qualifiers with a winning entry must be present on August 25 at the 89th running of the
Canadian Derby in order to win the car.

In addition, spots are still available for the golf tournament at Red Trail Landing on Thursday,
August 23, 2018. For tickets or more information about the 89th and final Canadian Derby on
