Alberta Sales Stakes Eligibility & Rules

Unlock over $400,000 in dedicated purses for CTHS Sale Graduates.

The Financial Rules of Eligibility

To maintain a horse's lifelong eligibility for the lucrative Alberta Sales Stakes series, both consignors and buyers must fulfill the financial components at the time of sale:

  • The Consignor "In Fee": A mandatory $100 Sales Stake IN FEE is automatically deducted from consignor sale proceeds. If a yearling passes through the ring unsold (RNA), this fee is billed directly to the consignor.
  • The Buyer "Out Fee": A mandatory $200 Buyer's OUT FEE must be paid by the purchaser at the time of sale over and above the hammer price. If a yearling is unsold, the consignor is responsible for paying this fee.
  • Commission Requirement: Full sales commission must be settled with the CTHS Alberta Division to validate a horse's staking privileges.
