2026 Two-Year-Old Development Program
In partnership with Horse Racing Alberta through Breed Improvement Funding CTHS (Alberta Division) is offering a Two-Year-Old Development Program designed to support owners and breeders who invest in and develop Alberta-bred horses, encouraging the timely development and preparation of Alberta-bred two-year-old's for racing and an official start in Alberta.
Beginning with the first two-year-old race of the 2026 season, a $1,500 incentive will be paid to the owner of the Alberta-bred horses that make its first official start in Alberta during the 2026 racing season.
Program Details
- Incentive Amount: $1,500 per eligible horse
- Only the horse’s first eligible start qualifies
- Program may be limited to the first 35 qualifying starters
Eligibility Requirements
- Horse must be a registered Alberta-bred
- Horse must make at least one official start as a two-year-old in Alberta during the 2026 season
- Payment will be issued to the owner of record at the time of the first start
- Each horse is eligible for one incentive payment only
Participation in this program is subject to eligibility verification and available funding. The CTHS (Alberta Division) reserves the right to modify program terms, limit the number of incentives paid (which may be limited to the first 35 qualifying starters), or, if unused funds remain, to extend incentives to additional eligible horses. The CTHS (Alberta Division) also reserves the right to decline payment if eligibility requirements are not met.
