Highfield Stock Farm is thrilled to announce that Tapiture will stand at the farm for the 2025 breeding season. A son of the breed-defining stallion Tapit, who has sired earners exceeding $211 million and produced leading North American sires such as Constitution, Tapiture embodies exceptional quality in the breeding shed.

On the racetrack, Tapiture displayed remarkable ability and durability, amassing $1,536,820 in earnings, including graded stakes victories at ages 2, 3, and 4, as well as a notable second-place finish behind the brilliant Goldencents in the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile, where he achieved a career-high E figure of 123. Tapiture boasts 11 graded stakes wins or placements, solidifying his status as a top competitor.

With a proven pedigree and an outstanding performance record, Tapiture has also excelled as a sire. His progeny have achieved remarkable success on the track, accumulating over $35 million in earnings, with over $7 million in 2024 alone. He has sired 40 black-type winners from six crops, including millionaire and Grade 1 performer Jesus Team. Tapiture has consistently outperformed top sires like American Pharoah, Constitution, and Curlin in producing winners, with a career high of 162 in 2023 and 157 already in 2024.

This move represents an exciting new chapter for Highfield Stock Farm and breeders in Alberta, as we look forward to the significant contributions Tapiture will bring to the Canadian breeding landscape.

"Tapiture previously stood at Darby Dan Farm in Kentucky, where he passed down his speed and durability to his progeny. With 40 black-type winners and average earnings per starter exceeding $68,000, Tapiture will be uniquely positioned in the stallion market in Alberta to provide breeders with exceptional quality," Adrian Munro of Highfield Stock Farm.

"Tapiture is a top-class stallion who produces superb racehorses. He was very successful at Darby Dan, and while we will miss him, we are delighted that Highfield Stock Farm, a highly professional Canadian operation, will continue his stallion career," John Phillips of Darby Dan.

Tapiture will stand for a 2025 fee of $6,000 CDN Live Foal. For more information, contact Jennifer Buck at Highfield Stock Farm at 403-660-6859 or jbuck@highfieldstockfarm.ca.

n Memory of Golden Made (1998 - 2025) Today, we say goodbye to Golden Made, whose beauty, kindness and spirit made her a favourite for everyone on the farm. Golden Made earned over $372,000 on the track with 11 wins from ages 2 to 5, but her greatest gift to us was in the breeding shed: 12 foals, 12 to race, 12 to win. She was perfect. Highfield Stock Farm was fortunate to purchase Golden Made at the Keeneland January Sale in 2007, and she has been a cherished part of our broodmare band ever since.

The Princess of the Track is now Queen of the Hill. Absolutely marvelous, Big Hug was named Alberta’s Horse Of the Year Saturday at the annual Night of Champions Awards dinner at Century Mile. Also named Alberta’s 2024 Champion Older Mare and Champion Alberta-bred, Big Hug won six of her eight starts in Alberta last year capturing the Founders Distaff, CTHS Sales stake, the Fall Classic Distaff and the R.K. ‘Red’ Smith Handicap for owner/trainer Rick Hedge and Lori and Martin Neyka’s Empire Equestrian. Purchased by Hedge for just $3,400 at the Alberta Yearling Sale, the now-five-year-old mare won $175,500 last year and $354,000 in her career. Big Hug was sired by Mr. Big and is out of the mare Temeeku, who broke her maiden for no tag at Del Mar, California. “Best horse I’ve ever trained,” said Hedge, 76, who has trained many outstanding thoroughbreds in his career and many more as a jockey.
