March 17, 2020 For Immediate Release Regarding Those Abroad with Horses

Dear CTHS Members & Industry Stakeholders,

Safe Health Practices:
In the wake of Covid-19 and the increasing measures being taken by Governments across Canada and the Globe, we would like to remind individuals to follow the guidelines and recommendations set out by local healthcare authorities, both at home and abroad, as well as those established by the Government of Canada, https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/services/diseases/2019-novel-coronavirus-infection/latest-travel-health-advice.html

Please Register:
Currently individuals are being asked to avoid all non-essential travel outside of Canada and are encouraged to return home to Canada if currently abroad. For those individuals abroad, who have not already done so, they are encouraged to Register with the Government of Canada https://travel.gc.ca/travelling/registration which will allow individuals to receive important information regarding changes or updates to travel advice and advisories.

Those Abroad with Horses:
The CTHS received notice from Equestrian Canada (EC) that they are working with Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) to help with the delays in getting horse(s) health certificates for Canadians trying to return home with their horse(s). Equestrian Canada is asking that individuals who are in the process of transporting their horse(s) from the United States to Canada to fill out the following form at: https://app.cyberimpact.com/clients/23337/subscribe-forms/939BF0BA-F5DB-46AE-AE8D-CF2F333504D9?fbclid=IwAR2kBcQL4VJEMm8_Ijsq0WU64PHcT0J0t43UBWqk_VjnkMhE-0829H1J9vE to help EC and other agencies track out-of-country individuals. Please also subscribe to EC to receive e-mail updates concerning the return transportation of horse(s).
