Buckpasser Yearling Brings $108,000
The 1979 CTHS Select Yearling Sale set a record that still stands today when a Buckpasser Yearling sold for $108,000. The filly ws consigned by Canadiana Farm Stables and purchased by Michael G. Motion acting as Agent. The 1980 Western Thoroughbred magazine stated that "the first hundred grander was the highlight of this year's Sale when an Easterner came West for the first time. Yes, the usual trend in the past has been the 'blue eyed oil sheiks' jetsetting to Toronto and buying the Sales toppers. Mrs. Philips, the lte Bud McDougald's sister, has always wanted a top class filly to represent her in Ontario and she sent New York Bloodstock agent, Michael Motion, to outbid Al Williams.
