Alberta Breds and CTHS Alberta Sale Graduates Grandma Jo and Common Knowledge Win the Two Year Old Sales Stakes

Congratulations to the connections of Alberta bred COMMON KNOWLEDGE.


The Mank gelding was the winner of the Two Year Old Sales Stakes at Century Mile Racetrack and Casino on October 25th. This 2019 CTHS Alberta sale graduate is out of the Kafwain mare, Lil Missknowitall and is a half-sister to Two Year Old Champion Pearl of Knowledge. Common Knowledge was bred by Starline Thoroughbreds and is owned by Don Danard.

Congratulations to all the connections of Alberta bred GRANDMA JO, winner of the 2020 CTHS Alberta Sales Stakes for Two Year Old Fillies on October 23rd. The CTHS Alberta sale graduate was bred by Highfield Investment Group Inc. and is owned by Westana Ranches Inc. & Highfield Investment Group Inc. Grandma Jo is by Exhi out of the Speightstown mare, Ennis Lady.

Alberta Bred CTHS Alberta Sale Gradute SOLO RING Wins the Three and Four Year Old Sales Stake for Colts & Geldings

The Alberta breds swept the leader board on Sunday, October 18th in the 2020 running of the $50,000 Sales Stakes for Colts and Geldings at Century Mile. Congratulations to the connections of Alberta bred CTHS Sale graduate SOLO RING who led the field the entire race and held off his challengers to claim the victory.


Solo Ring was Hip# 48 at the 2017 CTHS Alberta Thoroughbred Sale and was bought by Hurley Racing Stable for $13,000. The Where’s the Ring gelding was bred by Peaceful Valley Farm and is owned by Hurley Racing Stable. This win brings the lifetime earnings for the four year old to $51,392 with a record of 10-3-4-1.


Dune d’Oro placed second for breeder Doug Oberg and owners Gary & Janet Kropp and Bill Dory. Alberta bred Zicatela took third place for owner Crystal Meadows Farm and breeder Dawson Guhle.


Congratulations to the connections of Manitoba bred HIDDEN GRACE, winner of the $50,000 2020 CTHS Alberta Sales Stakes for Fillies and Mares on Friday, October 16th.


This four year old Going Commando sired filly is bred and owned by Cam Ziprick, Barry Arnason and Charles Fouillard. This is a repeat victory in the sales stake for the Going Commando sired filly and brings her lifetime record to 16-12-2-2 with earnings of $190,369.


In second place was BC bred NU LEGACY, owned by Paul Caravetta and bred by White House Stables. Alberta bred PEARL OF KNOWLEDGE finished in third position for owners Don Danard & Jim Juris and breeder Starline Thoroughbreds.

The Horse Racing Alberta Breed Improvement Program Stallion Bonus rewarded 34 stallions at a rate of 3.25%, building on the momentum of 2023’s $75,000 at 3.26%—a testament to the growing success of Alberta-sired runners. Cape Canaveral topped the Stallion Bonus leaderboard with an impressive $13,969 payout, followed by Fed Biz ($8,217), It’s No Joke ($6,486), Saturdaynitelites ($5,509), and Imperialism ($5,120), solidifying their impact on Alberta’s breeding scene. If you visit Anne Kursinski’s Market Street facility in Frenchtown, New Jersey, you might notice a striking bay gelding with a broad blaze and four white socks being ridden by one of her students or her partner, Carol Hoffman. 2025 Stallion News – Malibu Moon son MOONSHINE NOW Malibu Moon son MOONSHINE NOW is standing at Copper Kettle Performance Horses for the 2025 season. Champion Sire Malibu Moon is one of A.P. Indy’s most successful progeny to enter stud. Moonshine Now is out of Ask Me When by Champion sire Speighstown. Ask Me When comes from an impressive female line that has produced multiple black type runners including a full sibling that earned over $500,000 on the racetrack featuring a graded stakes performance.
