First 2YO Race of the Season Set for Friday, June 27th!

The Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society (Alberta Division) is proud to announce the launch of its 2025 Two-Year-Old Incentive Program — a initiative designed to reward the early racing success of Alberta-bred horses presented at the 2024 CTHS Alberta Yearling Sale.

Beginning with this Friday’s first two-year-old race of the season, the program offers a $1,500 payout to the current owner of each qualified horse that makes their first official start in Alberta during the 2025 season.

🔹 Only the horse’s first eligible start qualifies for the payout

🔹 Payouts will be processed and issued monthly as horses qualify

Program May be limited to first 40 starters

Eligibility Criteria

● Must be Alberta-bred

● Must have been offered at the 2024 CTHS Alberta Yearling Sale

● Must make at least one official start as a two-year-old in Alberta during the 2025 season

● Payout will be made to the owner of record at the time of the first start only

“This program is about rewarding owners who invest in Alberta-breds presented for sale at the CTHS sale and get them racing early,” said Dave Lovile, Breed Improvement Chair of CTHS Alberta. “By issuing monthly payouts, we’re putting money back in the hands of those who are moving the industry forward right now.”
