2020 Alberta Stallion Owners' Breeding Support

Horse Racing Alberta's Stallion Owners' Breeding support for 2020 totalled $55,000 and is being distributed through the Thoroughbred Breed Improvement Program. Cheques have now been mailed out to qualifying recipients of the program. 

The percentage for the 2020 Stallion Owners' is 3.28% and is based on the following criteria:



The Highfield owned stallion Cape Canaveral was the leading Alberta stallion for the 2020 season with $311,478 in progeny earnings. 

The top runners last season for the Mr. Prospector son included the multiple stakes placed Alberta Oaks winner PEARL OF KNOWLEDGE and the Sonoma Handicap stakes winner, MUSIC AT WORK. 

"Stallion bonus will be paid proportionately to Stallion owners whose Stallions have Eligible Alberta Thoroughbred progeny with earnings of $10,000 or greater during the Calendar year. Stallions must have stood in the province of Alberta for the entire Calendar year of conception for each year’s crop to be eligible."  

Please note that it is a requirement that recipients of the Breed Improvement Program - Thoroughbred Breeders' Bonus be members in good standing of the C.T.H.S. (Full or Associate Member designation) in order to receive the Breeders' Bonus.
