Bear’s Kid now standing at Beau Valley Stable in Alberta

Bear’s Kid has moved from Colebrook Farm in Ontario to stand at Beau Valley Stable in Didsbury, Alberta. The Grade II winning son of Lemon Drop Kid has first foals that were two year olds of 2013 and his progeny include the $125,000 Woodbine Marine Stakes Winner, Asserting Bear ($460,951) and the 2018 $100,000 Woodbine Classy N’Smart stakes winner, Bear Paw ($123,150).

Bred in Kentucky by Adena Springs, Bear’s Kid is out of the mare, Tap to Music, the winner of the Grade I 1998 Gazelle Handicap. Tap to Music by Pleasant Tap is a multiple grades stakes earner of over $1 Million and a half-sister to sire, Northern Afleet.

As a two year old, Bear’s Kid won the Grade II Summer Stakes and was third in the Labeeb Stakes as a four year old. He completed his race career in 2008 with $287,073 in earnings.

The sire of Bear’s Kid, Lemon Drop Kid by Kingmambo, is a top 20 lifetime active sire with progeny that has over $85,000,000 in combined earnings, 45 graded stakes winners and 99 stakes winners. Lemon Drop Kid is the sire of the Grade I stakes winners Beach Patrol and Romantic Vision, and broodmare sire of Grade I winners including Finest City, Tamarkuz, Yellow Agate, Forever Unbridled, etc. His 2018 yearling sales are to $310,000.

The sires Big Lightning and Singing Saint have also moved from within Alberta to Beau Valley Stable for the 2019 season. The Bernardini son, Big Lightning, has first foals that were two year olds of 2017 and already include the 2017 Princess Margaret Stakes winner, Emma Jean Too ($53,477). The El Prado son, Singing Saint, has progeny with average earnings per start of $50,000 and is the sire of blacktype winners, Harp N Halo ($177,170) and Songs and Laughter ($148,377) as well as the stakes placed Tairneach ($288,076).

The 2019 stallion roster at Beau Valley Stable now includes Bear’s Kid, Big Lightning, Gottcha Gold, Omega Code and Singing Saint.
