Highfield Stock Farm Loses Blue Hen Mare - Golden Made

We're sad to share the news of the passing of the beloved Highfield broodmare, Golden Made (1998–2025).

A cornerstone of the Highfield breeding program, Golden Made was the kind of broodmare breeding programs dream of — a true blue hen and a real tribute to the Alberta breeding industry. Her legacy lives on through her exceptional offspring, including 2013 Champion Three-Year-Old Filly Tell Me Lies, and her granddaughter, 2024 Champion Sprinter and Two-Year-Old Filly No Me Lies.In Memory of Golden Made (1998 - 2025)

Tribute from Highfield Stock Farm - May 21, 2025

Today, we say goodbye to Golden Made, whose beauty, kindness and spirit made her a favourite for everyone on the farm.

Golden Made earned over $372,000 on the track with 11 wins from ages 2 to 5, but her greatest gift to us was in the breeding shed: 12 foals, 12 to race, 12 to win. She was perfect.

Highfield Stock Farm was fortunate to purchase Golden Made at the Keeneland January Sale in 2007, and she has been a cherished part of our broodmare band ever since.

Her impact as a producer has been nothing short of extraordinary. She gave us:

Champion Tell Me Lies (Stakes winner of over $266,000, dam of 2024 Champion No More Lies)

Centrefire (Stakes winner of over $120,000)

Charterhill (stakes placed winner of over $81,000)

Jasper Shine – sold for $100,000 as a yearling and earner of over 14 million Yen

Golden Odie (winner of over $55,000)

Cappuchino To Go (winner of over $49,000)

Golden Cup (winner of over $46,000)

Howmuchistoomuch (winner of over $40,000

Made for Saturday (winner of over $21,000)

Street Made (winner of over $16,000)

…each one a testament to her heart and quality.

Through her foals, she passed on not only her talent but also her quiet dignity and kind nature. Her legacy lives on in Alberta racing in the winner's circle.

Run free, Golden. You were one of a kind, and you will be missed.
