Congratulations to the connections of Alberta bred FOR CASH, the overall winner of the inaugural People's Choice Award! 

For Cash was chosen as the top Alberta bred of the past half century after a number of weeks of voting. A list of the top Alberta breds, chosen by 'the people', were posted on social media for people to nominate their top five. Those top five were then voted on to arrive at a winner for each decade. Those decade winners were voted on in a final poll and For Cash was chosen as the overall People's Choice!

For Cash was owned and bred by Southview Ag. 1998 Ltd. and trained by Dale Greenwood. The Alberta bred runner had 15 wins, 7 seconds and 11 thirds with lifetime earnings of $605,279. Accepting the award from Horse Racing Alberta Board Chair, Diana McQueen, at the Night of Champions were Lyle and Phylis Farkash from Southview Ag. 1998 Ltd..

The People's Choice award was introduced as part of this year's 50th Anniversary! This award recognizes the outstanding Alberta bred from each decade of the Night of Champions and was sponsored by Horse Racing Alberta. 

The five decade winners were RAPIDO DOM (1974 - 1983), MAJESTIC HORIZON (1984 - 1993), TIMELY RUCKUS (1994-2003), FOR CASH (2004-2013) and SHIMSHINE (2014-2023). 

It was fantastic to have so many connections at the Night of Champions to represent the Decade winners and help to celebrate!
