FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society (Alberta Division) to host microchipping demonstration in Aldersyde, Alberta
Calgary, Alberta - February, 22nd, 2017
The Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society (Alberta Division) announces an invitation to a demonstration and training session regarding the nasal implantation of RFID microchips in Thoroughbred horses. This is an opportunity for Thoroughbred breeders, owners, Veterinarians, Animal Health Technicians and any interested parties to learn more about the process of the nasal implant technique. Attendees will be able to view the procedure on live horses, practice the technique, take home printed information and ask questions.
Microchips are a requirement of registration with The Jockey Club for foals of 2017 and later. The C.T.H.S. requires a microchip, either in the nuchal ligament or the nasal area, to complete registration requirements and is recommending that breeders nasally implant Canadian-bred Thoroughbreds being registered with the C.T.H.S.
The complimentary demonstration/training session will begin at 1:30 pm, March 22nd, 2017 at Highfield Stock Farm
, Range Road 285A, Okotoks, AB. Driving directions accompany this press release (PDF).
There will be 20 foals, 3 two year olds, 12 broodmares, 1 stallion and 5 off track Thoroughbreds microchipped.
Please R.S.V.P. to the C.T.H.S.(Alberta Division) at 403-229-3609 by March 20, 2017.
