SALES STAKE ELIGIBILITY FOR YEARLINGS OF 2010
By agreement with the HBPA, the Four-Year-Old and Up Sales Stake will be phased out and a Three and Four-Year-Old Sales Stake will be offered as an alternative in 2010
The Yearling Sales Stakes is funded by the Breed Improvement Program, Nominations, Entry and Starting Fees.
The C.T.H.S. (Alberta Division) is responsible for the administration of the Sales Stakes.
The purpose of the race is to create a strong yearling market in Alberta, and to attract new owners in order to stimulate the Breeding Industry and improve racing in the Province.
Dates, conditions, and location of the Sales Stakes are subject to change at the discretion of the CTHS Alberta Division.
The twenty-second running of the Sales Stakes, conditions and nominations are as follows:

Purse of $50,000 for Canadian Bred two-year-olds of 2010, to be run in two divisions; one for fillies, one for colts and geldings.

Purse of $50,000 for Canadian Bred three-year-olds and four-year-olds of 2010, to be run in two divisions; one for fillies, one for colts and geldings.

Times, location and distance to be announced.

Race limited to ten starters with an also eligible four horses. Eligibility to be determined by Northlands Racing Secretary and the C.T.H.S. Directors at their sole discretion with the determination being final and binding.

Starting fee of $500 to pass the entry box, and $500 to start.

Purse distribution: 1st - 60%, 2nd - 20%, 3rd - 10%, 4th- 3.5%, 5th - 2.5%, 6th - 2% Consignor of winning horse - 2%
BEGINNING IN 2010:
All yearlings that pass through the sales ring in 2010, whether sold or not sold, are sales stake eligible provided that the out fee for any yearling listed in the CTHS sale catalogue for the year is paid at the time of the CTHS sale; or the owner may pay an additional supplementary fee of $3,000 per race at the time of nomination to the Sales Stake Race to enter into the Sales Stake.
The full sales commission must also have been paid in order for the yearling to be Sales Stake eligible.
To be eligible for the Sales Stakes in 2011, Canadian Bred yearlings must be entered into the CTHS Alberta Thoroughbred Sale by July 2, 2010 and go through the sales ring.

The Entry Fee for Canadian-bred Yearlings will include the $100 Sales Stake IN FEE so that all yearlings will be Sales Stake eligible.

To remain eligible, a Buyer's OUT fee of $200 over and above the purchase price of the yearling must be paid by the purchaser at the time of the sale.

The owner may pay an additional supplementary fee of $3,000 per race at time of nomination to the Sales Stake Race to enter into the Sales Stake if the OUT fee was not paid at the time of the CTHS Sale.

The Buyer's OUT fee will in no way relate to the normal sales entry fee or commission charged by the C.T.H.S. Alberta Division.
