Well, Oldman Winter came a calling at Whoop-Up Downs in Lethbridge during the Thanksgiving weekend, shutting down the first two days of the four-day race card.

"Snow and minus eight-degrees forced us to cancel the Friday and Saturday race cards," said Rocky Mountain Turf Club CEO Max Gibb. "But our jockeys braved the cold Sunday and Monday and we were able to run six high-paying B Cup races. The B Cup series is like the Breeders' Cup for the RMTC and in order to run in the series a horse must have competed at least twice here at Whoop-Up Downs. Monday was Thanksgiving and you can bet the riders were giving thanks when the final race was run in the cold weather."
