Press Release: Regarding Canadian Registration Fees

At their meeting in Edmonton  on June 4, the CTHS National Directors voted to increase the fee to register a foal to $75.00 as of January 1, 2011. The fee for registering a foal in Canada after its first full birthday will remain the same at $200.00.

The current fee of $50.00 was introduced twenty-one years ago with the foal crop of 1989.

"Over the past twenty years, the National Office has experienced the same increase in operating expense that all businesses have. Although the staff has done its best to keep expenses in line, the small surplas maintained during the 1990s has gradually eroded as membership and registration numbers decline. The National Directors explored several possibilities to not only defray costs but to increase revenues. However, the increase in fees for registration was determined to be the most logical and straight forward method explored", explained Grant Watson, the Finance Committee Chair.

ATTENTION MEMBERS: The above increase to registration fees, effective January 1, 2011 will impact all 2010 foals not registered by that date.
